Position Description

The U.S Probation & Pretrial Services Office for the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine is currently accepting applications for a student volunteer position in our Bangor, Maine location. The term of the appointment is not to exceed one year and may end earlier at the discretion of the U.S. Probation Office.

Qualification

To qualify, a person must be a high school graduate or equivalent and be enrolled in or recently (within the past 6 months) graduated from college. Eight hours per week.

Conditions of Employment

Employees of the U.S. Courts serve under "Excepted Appointments" and are considered "At-Will" employees. Federal Civil Service classifications or regulations do not apply. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or eligible to work in the United States. The person selected for this position will be required to submit fingerprints for an FBI background check. Retention depends upon a favorable suitability determination. All employees are required to adhere to the Code of Conduct for Judicial Employees which is available for review upon request.
